Todd Halvorsen leads the project finance and deal structuring efforts at the Alliance. Starting on the Navajo Nation, Todd taught science and led garden programs for seven years before joining a start-up solar developer, owner, operator company just as the climate-tech industry began to flourish in 2007. Leading the analytics team in support of development and finance functions, he helped grow the business to an industry leader which was acquired by NRG Energy as they were transitioning from the largest buyer of coal in the U.S. to one of the largest investors in clean energy infrastructure. While at NRG, he was promoted to the head of Risk and Structuring for all clean energy investments which helped lead to the successful construction of hundreds of projects from coast to coast, well over $1B in capital deployed and over a gigawatt of installed capacity.

Todd earned B.S. and M.S. degrees from Indiana University, concentrating in environmental science and education for sustainability. Here at the Alliance, Todd applies his education, community, and industry experience to his work to help demystify the complexity of project finance and advocate for the highest value comprehensive energy solutions for Tribal communities. Todd is as passionate about helping deliver sustainable solutions for Tribal communities as he is fishing, gardening, cooking and sharing good times with friends and family.
